Walk the Appalachian Trail

approach to the Appalachian Trail

Grab your camping gear, boots and provisions to hit the Appalachian Trail. Actually, you don’t need any of that stuff to virtually walk the entire 2,200 miles, from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine.

Download the Walk the Distance app, which syncs with your iPhone’s Health app to track your steps and measure how far you would have walked on the trail. (An Android version is in the works.)

You can add friends to join you if hiking alone isn’t your thing.  Meet up with your buddies at night over this crackling campfire. Bring your own s’mores.

Watch panda bears, tour Monet’s garden and ride a roller coaster with more virtual tours.
