Mother and Daughter Partner in River Watch Brewery

by Jan Schroder

Mother-daughter businesses aren’t that rare. But a mother-daughter brewery? There’s only one: River Watch Brewery in Augusta, Georgia.

A retired Army colonel, Brey Sloan studied beer making around the world with the intent to open a brewery with her husband, Rick, as they had enjoyed brewing their own beer while stationed overseas.

Sadly, Rick passed away, and their daughter Anne, a former marine biologist stepped in. They opened River Watch in an old warehouse and serve four core brews and limited releases that include The Godfather of Stout, an homage to James Brown, who grew up in Augusta.
