Taste of Tradition at Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort

Tamaya Resort soothed from the beginning. First, traditional baked bread slathered with cinnamon butter began a cozy afternoon by the fireplace as rain tumbled over the Sandia Mountains.

When I followed the adobe-style walkway to the Cultural Center, a woman from the Santa Ana Pueblo welcomed me for a tour complete with personal stories of Feast Days. Cultural activities such as sand tile art lessons and storytelling under the stars immerse guests in a millennium of Tamaya history.

My night ended with communal s’mores, a sweet warmth while wind cooled the high desert air before I retreated to bed.
