Best Luxury Resorts in Mexico for Families

Finding a resort in Mexico that ticks all the boxes for our family can be a tall order. Trying to find hotels that go above and beyond is certainly a daunting task. Thankfully, we have explored dozens of properties in Mexico, and found a few that definitely hit the mark.

Finest Playa Mujeres

Finest Playa Mujeres is one of three properties owned by Excellence Resorts located on Playa Mujeres, just north of Cancun. Of the three (Beloved and Excellence are the others), Finest is the only one that is family friendly. All three span a gorgeous stretch of white sand beach, just across the water from Isla Mujeres.

The property itself features a stunning modern lobby which is unlike many of the other local resorts featuring traditional tropical, more rustic decor. There are 450 guest suites at Finest, some with private pools, others with swim-up suites, and all have balconies.

Each spacious room has a fully stocked mini fridge, coffee maker, flat screen TV and rain head shower. Room service is available 24 hours. Rooms are beautifully furnished and many have lovely pool or ocean views.

Those looking for quiet time will appreciate that the resort is separated into adults only and family zones. There are places where these intersect, namely the restaurants, but it is possible to relax without distractions.

Speaking of restaurants, there are 12 on site, and none of them disappoint. The breakfast buffet at The Market Kitchen has endless options from fruit smoothies to made-to-order omelets. Tinto & Tapas is exactly as the name says, wine and Spanish tapas. Everything is delicious. The most elegant restaurant on property is Le Petit Plaisir, serving exquisite French cuisine. Be sure to make a reservation.

Amenities include ONE spa, a kids club, tennis, snorkeling, yoga, 12 spas and jacuzzis, and more. There is always something to do at Finest, the staff is superb, and the property is just big enough. Unlike other properties requiring golf cart transportation, this one is extremely manageable, and never feels overwhelming.

Paradisus Los Cabos

Paradisus Los Cabos

Paradisus Los Cabos lies between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas with an enviable location just off Highway 1, the main road connecting the two towns. Paradisus is a luxury, all-inclusive property with a variety of concierge services available. It is one of the few hotels in Cabo with a swimmable beach, since most of the area is susceptible to strong riptides.

There are seven types of rooms at Paradisus, and various levels of concierge services. The premiere one is Royal Service, which is adults only, and includes a personal butler. There’s also Family Concierge service with special touches for kids including milk and cookies at turndown and video gaming systems in the room. All rooms and suites are quite spacious with garden or ocean views, private balconies and stocked mini bars.

Food at Paradisus does not disappoint. There are seven restaurants and bars, each featuring a different type of cuisine. Don’t miss a meal at Gastro Bar, owned by Michelin star chef, Martin Berasategui. The delicious multi-course experience will blow your mind. Another favorite is ceviche at Gabi bar, one of the best al fresco dining spots on property.

If you are visiting Cabo with kids, they will love the Kids Zone where they can enjoy the playground, movies and arts/crafts. There are many on-site activities, including water polo, yoga, mixology classes, cigar rolling, and even Latin dance classes.

Paradisus has a beautiful beach for morning walks, and amazing bars with entertainment that goes late into the night. No matter your preference, Paradisus is the resort for you.

Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach

Grand Fiesta Coral Beach

Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach is one of the few properties we like in the Cancun Hotel Zone, but for good reason. Although it’s in the heart of the action, it feels removed from the hustle and bustle of the downtown area. All of the suites have an ocean view, the restaurants have delicious food, and the staff is lovely.

Infinite Club guests can also enjoy VIP butler service as well as private beach and poolside zones. This service also provides unlimited access to the KidZ Club and complimentary babysitting (for a limited amount of time). Consider what you need and book accordingly.

As mentioned, all suites have an ocean view, a balcony and are very comfortable for couples and families. The property has multiple pools, a beautiful beach and a waterpark for the kids. Restaurants run the gamut from casual ocean view dining to the star of the property, Le Basilic. This AAA Five Diamond French restaurant is not to be missed during your stay.

Another favorite is the Gem Spa, which claims to be the largest spa in Mexico. Weighing in around 40,000 square feet, this spa has the ultimate hydrotherapy circuit, with 10 different stations. Complete the experience with a soothing massage and relax around the indoor pool.
