Anchorage 1770 – Historic Gem in Beaufort, SC

by Jan Schroder

After fixing ourselves G&Ts from the honor bar, we walked out on the deck and looked at the best view of Beaufort, South Carolina. Sailboats dotted the Beaufort River and strollers enjoyed the waterfront park.

We were spending the weekend in Anchorage 1770, a restored historic mansion with 15 beautiful guest rooms, many with waterfront rooms. At bedtime lemon water and chocolate chip cookies were delivered to our room and in the mornings we indulged in a huge gourmet breakfast served on the verandah.

One afternoon we used the complimentary bikes to explore the aptly named Spanish Moss Trail.
